Converged Service Broker
The Aepona Service Broker is a unique product that fulfils several critical roles in current and next-generation networks. Service Broker is a network element that unlocks the full potential of IN and SIP services by overcoming technical limitations that exist in many networks today. In IN networks it overcomes the restrictive limitations of trigger conflicts to enable multiple services to be invoked at the same time. For SIP telephony it provides the equivalent Service Capability Interaction Management (SCIM) and related functions. Furthermore, Service Broker provides the glue to integrate traditional and next generation services.
Within SS7 networks, Service Broker provides a service interaction capability allowing multiple services to be invoked from the same IN (and CAMEL) trigger, solving an age-old problem that prevents network operators from creating flexible service bundles that can be matched closely to subscribers' exact needs.
One of the most common problems in tradition al networks is that IN trigger conflicts prevent many value-added services from being offered to pre-paid customers. This age old problem is easily solved by Service Broker, allowing a mobile operator to bring new services to any subscriber whether pre- or post-paid, whether at home or roaming.
Within SIP networks, Service Broker fulfils the functions of the SCIM and IM-SSF functions as defined within the IMS architecture.
The SCIM (Service Capability Interaction Management) allows the creation of rich, composite services that fully leverage the powerful capabilities provided within SIP networks and the emerging IMS.
The IM-SSF features allow services developed for SS7 IN (CAMEL or INAP) to be carried forward into SIP networks without having to re-build the applications.
In addition, Service Broker offers an IM-SCF function, enabling new SIP based services to interwork with traditional CAMEL or INAP interfaces.
