Digital Commerce Engine to Form Key Component of Its Digital
Services Hub
First Unified Digital Commerce Solution to
provide the framework for managing and delivering rich media
assets over any channel
DUBLIN, IRELAND and SAN MATEO, Calif — 5th
February 2007– Valista
(www.valista.com), the leading
provider of merchandizing, payments, settlement solutions and
managed services, today announced that Vignette has chosen its
Digital Commerce Engine as a key component of Vignette’s
Digital Services Hub Solution, which provides organizations with
a unified solution to manage and deliver revenue-generating content
to any web-enabled device and provides tracking and analysis
to ensure content reaches the intended audience with the desired
effect. Valista brings automation across all parties engaged
in the commerce business process through merchandizing, payments
and settlement. In doing so, Valista streamlines the entire commerce
process thus rapidly improving the time to market of new services,
reducing the associated costs and improving the customer experience.

Digital Services Hub Solution”.)
The Vignette Digital Services Hub is a single unified framework
for managing and delivering all types of digital objects, media
content, services and applications to mobile devices, set-top-boxes,
the Web, and other established delivery systems. Digital Services
Hub combines Vignette’s Next Generation Web solution with
other industry-leading partners, for customers serving rich digital
content to multiple devices, where content is the product.
In bringing the Vignette Digital Services Hub solution to market,
Valista joins with industry leaders including: Vignette, a Next-Generation
Web solutions provider; Volantis, a provider of mobile device
rendering and recognition software; Sun Microsystems, a leading
global provider of hardware, software and services; and SafeNet,
a specialist in digital rights management. The initial offering
targets telecommunications, media and entertainment companies
that depend on differentiated content such as movies, video,
IPTV and advertisements to attract and retain customers.
To bring the solution to market, the go-to-market partners are
working with global and local systems integrators including Diagonal,
DPCI, Hyperlink, iFactory, Informatica El Corte Ingles, ioko,
Sapient, Stefanini, Tata Consultancy Services, Tallence and Virtusa.
“In the digital content market, the difficulty of integrating
content platforms with billing and care support systems has impeded
communications, media and entertainment companies’ opportunity
to generate new revenue,” said Larry Goldman, co-founder
and senior analyst, OSS Observer. “Valista’s
work with Vignette in the Digital Services Hub provides a solution
that reduces that difficulty and the associated risks. This allows
customers to get products to market and generate revenue faster,
which gives a competitive advantage.”
Vignette’s Digital Services Hub combines Valista’s
automated digital commerce suite of merchandizing, payments and
settlement solutions with Vignette’s Next Generation Web
solution and other industry-leading partners to provide a single,
flexible application for on-boarding, managing, approving and
delivering electronic assets and rich media to customers based
on preferences, demographics and demonstrated interests. It is
a unique, multi-channel proposition, bringing together a group
of individual market leaders to provide a best-in-class solution,
which enables telecommunications and media companies to manage
the creation, provisioning, merchandizing, payment and settlement
of multimedia content. This will make the delivery of content
much more effective and efficient, as it will remove operational
silos, enabling content to be distributed via multiple channels.
The Valista Plus™ solutions suite will be integrated with
technologies from Vignette and other go-to-market partners as
required to form a complete digital commerce suite. Valista Plus
supports the end-to-end business processes in the digital commerce
value chain including multi-channel ordering, merchandizing,
authentication, payments, settlement, delivery, and post-purchase
care. Valista‘s solutions support multiple access channels
and payment models including integration with billing and prepay
systems, credit card and banking networks, stored value, person-to-person
(P2P) and proximity payments.
The platform will help reduce content delivery costs and makes
it much easier for companies to identify consumer demands and
trends through reporting and analytical tools. This will enable
them to respond to market trends faster and offer compelling
new content at an earlier stage. By providing insight into content
consumption and having the opportunity to market and charge for
targeted personalized content, companies can increase revenues
through up-selling and by offering service bundles.
“Until now, companies looking to take advantage of
emerging convergence technologies to create and deliver multimedia
content
to customers have done so in a piecemeal fashion and crucially,
have not been able to use their existing website infrastructures,” said
Raomal Perera, Founder and Executive Chairman of Valista. “The
Vignette Digital Services Hub, which utilizes Valista’s
merchandizing, payments and settlement solutions, will allow
the transformation
of multimedia
content so that it can be managed, marketed, paid for and distributed
via multiple channels to devices such as PC, digital set-top
boxes, mobile phones and other portable devices. The end-to-end
solution covers the entire commerce value chain from portal creation,
personalization and content management to merchandizing, payments,
revenue settlement and post purchase care.”
“Consumers are increasingly turning to mobile applications,
IPTV and other Web-enabled channels for engaging, interactive
content,” said Leo Brunnick, senior vice president of Products
and Marketing, Vignette. “Valista’s technology
is a key component of the Vignette Digital Services Hub because
it enables content providers to leverage payment and merchandizing
options within all digital distribution channels.”
