Valista® nominated for GSM award – Best Mobile Application Developer 2004

Industry recognition for Valista, formed following the merger of Network365 and iPIN


Valista (www.valista.com), the leading provider of payments software for electronic and mobile commerce has been short listed for the GSM Association’s 'Best Mobile Application Developer' Award 2004. This is a major endorsement by the global GSM industry of the company's payments technology – Valista PaymentsPlus™ - and their experience in optimizing the cost of growing the prepaid mobile market with Valista TopupPlus™ - which are both being used by mobile and fixed line operators, ISPs and enterprises worldwide to deliver a range of services to their customers. Key global customers include Vodafone UK, NTT DoCoMo and Taito Corporation in Japan, France Telecom’s w-HA, Orange, Wanadoo, Tiscali and T-Online in France, 3 in eight countries, Hong Kong CSL, General Motors and TODO1 in the Americas, 02 in Europe, Oskar in the Czech Republic and Celltel Lanka in Sri Lanka.

The winner of the award will be announced at the gala 2004 GSM Association Awards dinner on February 24th in Cannes at the Martinez Hotel during the 3GSM World Congress. The host for the 2004 Awards will be announced shortly. Now in their ninth year, the awards recognize excellence and innovation across the wireless communications industry and are open to companies whose products and services support the market for the GSM family of technologies. The awards programme for 2004 includes a stronger emphasis on the consumer and corporate benefits of wireless technology, in order to reflect the more widespread use of the technology.

Valista recently won two Wall Street Journal awards - the overall Gold Award for Business and the Business Finance Award 2003.

“As GSM continues to mature and grow, the versatility and expertise of players across the industry becomes ever more impressive,” said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association and member of its board. “This year, as we celebrate a historic milestone of, the shortlist includes global brands alongside relatively new start-up companies – each contributing to the diversity of products and services available to the world’s one billion GSM users.”

The final round of judging took place earlier this month. An international panel of telecommunications industry specialists debated the merits of the entries. There are six categories for which awards will be presented including, Technology Innovation, Applications & Services, Marketing & Promotion, Mobile in the Community Awards, GSM Association Roll of Honour as well The GSM Association's Chairman's Award. Most of the six main categories have sub-categories and in all 28 separate companies were named as possible winners of awards.

Valista finds itself standing with an impressive mix of multinationals and blue chip candidates such as Vodafone, Omnitel, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Sony Ericsson, O2 and StarHub. Network365 (now Valista, following the merger with iPIN) won the Best Wireless Application Developer Award at the GSM Association Awards 2002.
