Aepona Raises $10M in New Financing Round

Aepona, the leading supplier of Service Network products and solutions to telecoms operators worldwide, today announced a new financing round of $US 10M (£5M GBP). Existing investors Amadeus Capital Partners, Polaris Ventures and Trinity Venture Capital all participated in the round. The new funding follows previous rounds in 2003 and 2005, bringing the total investment in the company to $45M.

“During 2006, myself and my management team decided that the time was right to put the company on a faster growth path”, said Isaac Olasoko, Aepona’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have already proven our ability to execute in a high-growth and competitive market segment, having won prestigious contracts with major telecom operators such as the France Telecom / Orange Group, Sprint in the U.S. and Bridge Mobile Alliance in Asia. We now want to accelerate our growth by investing in new products and solutions, scaling up our resources and business processes, and expanding our geographical presence.”

Over the past 12 months, Aepona has continued to win new business as well as generating additional sales from existing customers. New wins during the past year include a contract with Vimpelcom, one of Russia’s largest mobile operators with 53 million subscribers. During 2006 the company also strengthened its management team, launched its strategy of providing end-to-end, applications-led solutions, established a presence in India, currently the world’s fastest-growing telecommunications market, and opened a new development centre in Kiev, Ukraine.

“As we enter 2007, I am very excited about the number of new customers in our sales pipeline”, continued Isaac Olasoko. “We plan to take an increasing share of this market through continued investment in solutions such as Telecom Web Services, and expanding our sales presence in key markets such as North America, India and China. I am delighted that our current shareholders are fully supporting our strategy by providing this additional growth capital”.

Recently, Aepona’s Universal Service Platform product was shortlisted for the GSM Association’s annual Global Mobile awards under the “Best Service Delivery Platform” category. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the forthcoming 3GSM event in Barcelona, where Aepona will be demonstrating several of its new products and solutions.
