Test Engineer

Role: Test Engineer / Senior Test Engineer

Reporting to: Test Manager

Location: Belfast

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Specification of test cases and production of test scripts and test data
• Definition of test solutions and implementation of test harnesses and scripts
• Installation and configuration of test environments
• Investigation and use of test automation tools and/or any additional test process improvements
• Ensuring a visible test audit trail for all test execution activities (logs, conditions, bug reports)
• Execution of Factory Acceptance and Interoperability test plans against the Aepona product suite and/or 3rd party applications to ensure that documented requirements are met
• Execution of Customer Acceptance test plans on customer site
• Production of detailed Test Reports containing relevant test metrics and offering conclusions from the test phase
• Participation in Test Documentation and Process reviews
• Responsible for reporting progress against test object to the Test Manager on a weekly basis
• Adhere to testing schedules and have an awareness to flag possible delays or issues
• Adherence to the AEPONA Quality Management System

Job Specification:

Essential Criteria:

• An honours degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equally relevant subject)
• At least 4 years experience of working in a Unix environment
• Problem Solving Skills exercised in debugging environments
• Effective organisational, time management and planning skills
• Willingness to travel and work off-site for sustained periods for Customer Acceptance Testing
• Familiarity with industry standard configuration management tools and techniques (CVS, SVN)
• Good attention to detail in all assigned test activities
• Willingness to participate in improving testing process and efficiency within Aepona
• Experience in any industry standard bug tracking tool e.g. Bugzilla

Desirable Criteria:

• Quality assurance experience with Test Planning and Test Execution
• Familiarity with SS7/Catapult (PASM, MGTS)
• Familiarity with IP Messaging and Location Protocols (SMPP, MM7, MLP)
• Experience of Oracle 10g Administration
• Experience in C++, Java and Shell scripting
• Experience in Web Service testing using tools such as SOAPUI
• Experience of Performance testing and different types within (Soak, Stress, Ramp)
• Experience or knowledge of the Parlay/Parlay-X standards
• Experience of GUI automation tools e.g. Selenium, HTML unit
