Senior Java Developer

Role: Senior Java Developer

Reporting to: Engineering/Project Manager

Location: Belfast

Responsibilities:

Key activities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Working closely with Senior Architects and Engineering Management to ensure a thorough understanding of software requirements
  • Working closely with members of the architecture team to design various components and functionality of AEPONA Products and solutions
  • Involvement in the implementation stage of the development lifecycle using Java and various Java development tools
  • Contribute to the review of design documentation, code and test strategies
  • Ensuring the AEPONA QMS is followed throughout the development cycle
  • Development of other lesser experienced software engineering staff

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • An honours degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equally relevant subject)
  • At least 5 years postgraduate software development experience involving all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • At least 3 years experience in Java development on a Unix Platform
  • Experience in multi-threaded server side Java programming
  • Knowledge/experience in the use of the Spring Framework, and JMX technology
  • Proven experience in the use of Eclipse, Ant, JUnit, Hibernate and Easymock tools
  • Thorough experience of working according to a Quality Management System
  • Strong awareness and interest in telecommunications
  • Experience in working effectively within a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility toward travelling when required

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in OSGi technology
  • Experience in the development of telecommunications software products
  • Experience in the development of Web Services
  • Experienced in the use of CORBA/Artix
  • Experienced in the use of Database Software eg ORACLE within development projects
  • Knowledge of the fixed line and mobile networks
