Grails Developer

Role: Grails Developer

Reporting to: Engineering/Project Manager

Location: Belfast

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Working closely with Senior Engineers and Architects to ensure a thorough understanding of web portal requirements
Working closely with members of the architecture team to design various components and functionality of AEPONA's web portal
Involvement in the implementation stage of the development lifecycle using Java and various Java development tools
Contribute to the review of design documentation, code and test strategies
Ensuring the AEPONA QMS is followed throughout the development cycle
Development of other lesser experienced software engineering staff

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

An honours degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equally relevant subject)
Proven experience of Grails/Ruby On Rails development
At least 3 years postgraduate web and software development experience
At least 2 years experience in Java/J2EE development on a Unix Platform
Experience of UI design, CSS and Javascript framework
Knowledge/experience in the use of the Spring Framework
Experience in the use of Eclipse, Ant, JUnit, Hibernate and Easymock tools
Self-starter with proactive attitude towards tasks
Proven ability to develop quality software from a set of requirements
Experience of working according to a Quality Management System
Experience in working effectively within a team
Excellent communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills
Flexibility toward travelling when required
