Graduate Software Engineer
Role: Graduate Software Engineer (OneAPI Programme)
Reporting to:Project Manager
Location: Belfast
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Involvement in various aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements capture, design, implementation, testing, installation and support
- Approve new user registration for the web portal
- Participate in fora discussions and respond to queries on Aepona technology
- Monitor and actively participate in blogs e.g. twitter etc to help build a community around the developer programme
- Develop sample applications in multiple languages
- Test new services and software upgrades
- Ability to specialise in specific lifecycle phases to meet the needs of the Company
- Ensuring quality software is released to the customer on time
- Ensuring the AEPONA Quality Management System is followed throughout the development process
- Off-site working to satisfy customer commitments and deliveries
Person Specification:
Essential Criteria:
- At least an Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering or other related discipline (examination results must demonstrate likely achievement of degree classification)
- Experience of coding using a structured programming language, preferably on UNIX
- Experience in JAVA and OO Design & Development
- Knowledge of Webservices / REST
- Application development experience using for example Amazon or Google webservices
- Highly motivated self-starter with proactive attitude towards tasks
- Willingness and ability to learn
- Capability of taking responsibility for work and personal and professional development
- Experience in working effectively within a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to travel and work off-site for periods of time
Desirable Criteria:
- Commercial Java experience
- Experience in other programming languages e.g. .Net, C#, Ruby/Grails
- At least 6 month's placement experience in a software development role, preferably in the telecommunications industry
