Engineering Manager

Role:Engineering Manager

Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka

Main Areas of Responsibility:

• Manage the Engineering Delivery Teams
• Plan, scope, schedule, resource and manage the deliveries to the customer
• Manage software, scope changes, delivery status and escalations
• Participate in the functional, technical, reliability, scalability and performance aspects of a distributed applications
• Manage expectations of multiple stakeholders and produce relevant status reports
• Introduce tools, technologies, processes and best practices
• Make day to day operational decisions, prioritize, schedule tasks, follow-ups and escalations
• Mentor and guide the team, provide feedback, evaluate and drive productivity being a role model

• Self-starter/ high-energy yet pragmatic, deadline-driven, dependable and can deliver results with aggressive deadlines

• Ability to influence people and drive results in a matrix organization while building long term positive and collaborative relationship
• Excellent communication, leadership, comprehension, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills

Experience:

• 8+ years of industry experience
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent
• Hands on experience in languages like Java, SQL, HTML, etc
• Expertise in Linux, Source code management systems (SVN), build tools (Ant), application servers (BEA) and databases (Oracle)
• Expert in web-based, multi-tiered, database-oriented applications
• Experienced in application level programming, troubleshooting and monitoring
• Must have experience in leading teams, projects and deliveries
• Project management experience is essential
• Expert in software development lifecycle and fully aware of development methodologies
